Recovery Time

Recommended Posts

Half of us have already started our pre-op diets and the other half are just about to start. YEAH, us!!! I was wondering how long you plan on taking off from work before returning? I work in a outpatient medical office as a tech and I plan on taking a week off. I do a lot of getting up and down, but no heavy lifting at work. And I have my parents coming up from NC to help out around the house and with my daughter (no driving for 3-4 days, per my doctors request).

I was banded on Friday April 10th and returned to work the following Tuesday for half days that week. But I started getting really bad gas pains on Thursday night. I thought 6 days in I was in the clear with gas pains, however the next 4 days were hard! I was able to work full time this week, desk job no lifting. Looking back I should have taken a week off.

Good Luck! :smile2:

I'm having surgery on a Tuesday, and taking the rest of the week off. I have a desk job so I don't think I should have a hard time as far as exerting myself. The only thing I'm somewhat concerned is energy, because I won't be eating hardly any carbohydrates. I'm hoping to make it to a party on Saturday night for my best friend's birthday and 5-year anniversary of being cancer free. I know it's soon afterward but I really want to be there!

I'm getting banded on May 6th. I had asked if I could work from home the following week but the doctor's assistant said it wasn't a good idea to sit for too long so I will be returning to work on the 18th. Thankfully I have short term disability that will cover my time off. Good Luck to everyone!

My surgery is on a Wednesday and I am going back on Monday. I'm in marketing and so it's an office job. There are only a few people that work out of my office and they are all sales people that are only there Monday's and Friday's. Two of them know what is going on, so I know they will be able to make excuses for me if I need to close my office door on Monday and be alone. I doubt I will though - I am sure the mayo Banditos will bounce back with no problems!

I'm a hair stylist and my surgery is on a Wednesday as well. My days off where thursday and friday and was just going to take those off and go back on Saturday but after asking around was convinced to take more days off. I traded schedules with a girl at work and now I don't have to go back to work until the following Wednesday. Hopefully that will be plenty of time. I hear everyone is differnt so good luck to us all!

Im so lucky, Im a student so I dont have to worry about this. I can study from bed and school is only three hours at night twice a week. Im having my surgery on Friday and I have a class on Monday that I will be going to. I think Ill be ok though. I thing Im worried about the most is being able to keep up with my two toddlers! I can hardly keep up with them when Im in perfect health. I guess the house is going to be a disaster for a week.

Wow 2 toddlers , how old are they? I'm sure they will keep you busy! I think you'll be fine (physically not mentally lol) as long as they are okay with you not picking them up for awhile. I hope you have someone there who will be able to help you.

Well actually only one is mine. He is two. The other one is my best friends who I watch while she works. She is only part time so its only for a few hours a day. Her son is one and a half. Then there's also my 7 year old. But she's my angel and a big helper. Thank god for her!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
