flutters/bubbles in my chest...I need help!

Recommended Posts

I just had my band on 4/21; however, I developped Pnuemonia the day after and I am still in the hospital for this. My problem right now is in between my chest (above) my port, I fell flutter like when youy baby kicked you from inside the first time or bubble felling (for guy :-), feel like indigestion and all in all don't feel too good at all. I am so scared that something bad is happening. The doctor will come and see me this evening but I cannot wait. Please if you have experience this, let me know.

I am so scared.

Hang in there! You are in the right place and they will take good care of you! It can be very scary and emotional when you are unsure of what will happen. I was banded on April 10th and had some of the flutters, it was from the gas they used. Be sure to tell the nurses too what you are worried about! When I was feeling bad, without any problems, I was thinking I asked for this, what the hell have I done, but I am so glad I did it! Hope this helps, good luck! Feel better!

Gas is the sneakiest stuff! You're only 5 days out from surgery and if you haven't already experienced some gas, now's definitely the time for you to start. It moves around, it gets trapped, it flutters, it hurts ... and it will make you crazy. As the nurse if you can have some gas medicine (they can call the doctor and get approval for it and I see no reason why they would now allow it). Be sure to tell them that you had laprascopic surgery on 4/21 and that gas is an extremely common (pretty much universal) problem and that you are starting to feel it.

Tcbgirl, Im so sorry to hear you had a complication. I was also banded on the same day. I'm walking as much as I can tolerate. My biggest problem is the deep sore ness I have. But it is getting better. I hope thoughs nurses also have an order for stool softner take it and dont say no. This also helps to eliminate some of the gas. I wish you the best of luck, let me know if i can help with anything else.

It sounds like the normal gas sensations to me as well.

I am sorry you have had such a rough start of it. I hope you are home soon and the pneumonia is gone quickly. Good luck.

Sounds like gas to me too.

I often like in bed and night and feel this. When I lie down flat, it seems to set off an incredible amount of gas activity that thankfully doesnt need to come out! I actually just lie there and enjoy it, reminiscing about my babies kicking me and if I lay my hand on my tummy, I can feel it too. You're right, it feels EXACTLY like a baby.

My daughter is lactose intolerant and gets VERY gassy when she gets something dairy. She likes to gently rub her tummy in a circle. The movement is soothing to you, but also helps chase the bubbles out from where they are stuck...

With my surgeries, I suffer major gas pains as my bowels take days to wake up fully and get moving again. I sit in a rocking chair, even when i was in the hospital they chased up a rocking chair from maternity for me.. Watch out, for me it works well and could be pretty embarassing... :smile2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
