Recurring Kidney Stones and getting stuck

Recommended Posts

So i've noticed that when I eat too much or too fast or something I'm not supposed to, when i get stuck and go through that lovely hour or so of pain in my breast bone, it seems to aggravate my left kidney, which I have a 6 year history of kidney stones and 4 surgeries because of them. I am in a ton of pain there (as well as the breast bone, in my back, all that). I'm wondering if anyone else has had this same problem. I'll be going to my doctors (don't even know which one to start with) but I thought I'd check to see if anyone is familiar with what I'm talking about.

Thanks in advance.

Never heard that....are you sure it's not gas? the darn stuff moves around. Does a heating pad help any? If I were you and deciding what doctor to go to, I would call my surgeon first and just talk to them. If they have an answer (or an idea of the problem), great! If not, call the doctor who has treated you for kidney stones.

I too have had kidney stones since my surgery. There were indications before my surgery but in the last year I've had a least 4. I've only seen one actually come out but my doctor finally took an xray and it indicated kidney stones.

I feel like it is from the increased Protein but my regular doctor and my surgeon both say no. My regular doctor believes it is from increased vegetables and says that your kidneys pull something out of leafy green vegetables so if I know I'm going to be eating a salad or whatever to take a Calcium chew before that and whatever the product is will stick to the Calcium from the chew and not get filtered through the kidneys and cause stones.

I know it sounds crazy but it made sense when he was telling me and I do try to do what he said and so far, so good, no stones.

Good luck and I hope you feel better!

I got gallstones after I had surgery (about 9 months after) and that hurt like living hell. They took out my gallbladder, but I ended up with stones in my bile ducts as well and had a second surgery two days later. It was miserable and I had to be totally unfilled. Took several months to get back to where I was. Frustrating. I too have pain under my ribs on the left side. To high up for a kidney. The pain goes around to my back. It used to be sporadic, now it's 24/7. Going to doc on Friday.

I had my gallbladder out years ago and had the same sort of pain. My doctor said it was scar tissue.

The pain I have from the kidney stones feels like it did after I had my gallbladder out and also radiates around to the back.

It is good that you are getting it checked.

I too had/have kidney stones, three on each side. I have only passed one and that was almost two years ago. Every side pain I have I think it is one moving. Let us know what your Dr. says. Thanks and good luck.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
