Anyone throwing up?

Recommended Posts

I had my band put in yesterday and have thrown up 4 times. Three times yesterday and once this morning. I believe it's from the anastesia. The doc gave me some anti-nausia meds which worked but wore off and I threw up again. Just worried that I'm going to hurt my self or my band. Should I be worried? I feel great now. Able to drink my liquids, walk etc. Very little pain except at port area.

Well I'm glad I'm not alone but sorry you're not feeling well either. My anastesiologist said 15% of people vomit from the drugs. Why me!?

Hi guys,

Sorry to hear about the throwing up. My partner was banded on the 9th and was throwing up every night. Things got really bad and she got to the point where she was not going more than an hour or two with retching. She got very weak from not being able to absorb much in the way of fluids or medications. On Friday we saw her surgeon who checked her out and reassured her that she had not damaged anything. He also gave her a Maxolon shot. She has made a fantastic recovery since then. Please don't wait too long to get things checked out with your surgeon.

Well - I've made it 24 hours without throwing up and have managed to consume about 80 ounces of liquid so I think I'm ok. No pain except around the port and of course the gas. ;)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
