Hey BANDitos!!!

Although our band dates aren't here yet they are fast approaching!!!! Less than 3 weeks for me YAY!!! :thumbup:and WOW!!!

Some of you have already started your journey with pre-op diets prescribed by the surgeon and others have decided to begin their journey on their own before being banded.

I was wanting to wait but decided "why wait to start this life changing journey"

I have talked about that little devil that sits on my shoulder tempting me through out the day. Most of the time he is very persuading and easy to give into.

I've been telling my self for weeks to start exercising but until I committed myself to change I was just kidding myself.

2 days ago I kept trying to talk myself into going for a walk and finally succeeded. I had an errand to run and instead of driving the .75 miles it took to get there I walked.

Yesterday I needed to go to the Library to return some books and talked myself into walking the 1.5 miles to the Library instead of driving. Today I have a meeting at the school that is 2 miles away and uphill to boot. I am planning on walking.

Right now each day is a struggle to do whats best for me, whether it is making the right food choices or doing a little bit of exercise, but once I have made the right choice it feels great!!!!!

So I thought I would start a thread where we can give ourselves kudos and back pats for a job well done. Even if it is not giving into temptation as small as one more Hershey's kiss after we have already had one or two (we all know how hard it is to stop) or whatever that day's temptation might have been. You know a woo hoo I did it!

After the band we will have a tool and it will still be difficult, but right now it's just us baby and we all know how difficult the struggle can be, so here's to us!!!!

Hallelujahgirl, I totally understand. Since I got approved I have been using it as an excuse to (let's just say) "over-endulge", but kudos for me today for turning down doughnuts that a fellow co-worker brought in. I have a serious addiction to sugar, so me turning them down was big. And I really didn't turn it down, I just didn't want it!!! Kudos to us!!!!!!

I love this!!

I just got done eating out with my boyfriend, bff and her gf - we went to a steakhouse and I was sooo good, I didn't eat ANY of the bread that the waiter kept us stocked with, I asked which was the leanest cut of steak that I could get w/no butter on it, AND I got green Beans and a salad with no dressing with mine while everyone else got potatoes and big fat steaks with melted butter!!!!!!!!!!

It was hard, but dang it. I am committed to this ONE meal at a time.

Keep these coming, ya'll! I think these are good for us all to read and to congratulate ourselves on.

This is a great idea!

I admit, I've been a lazy bum lately and have been eating ALMOST whatever I want. But the good news is that I walked up the escalators (big ole stairs) on my way to work today. All five flights of them. I was breathing hard at the top but I felt good! My goal is to do that as often as I can until I don't get out of breath. Oh and hit up the gym too!

Woohoo! Everyone is doing great!

Kellster -- 5 sets of escalators? My God, where do you work? And how did you do that? I wouldn't have been able to do more than one. Wow.

Well, I brought in all the candy from the candy jar today and put it in the kitchen for my coworkers to eat. I also turned down doughnuts and cake on Wednesday! (But gave in to Cookies last night. Booo!) Well, baby steps... baby steps!

Way to go ladies!!! We are ready! I gave up my Diet Mtn. Dew addiction almost one month ago. I also started walking - I walked 8 miles last week. I wanted to commit to being as healthy as I can be before the surgery and to start making small changes now. Right now I'm working on the not drinking 30 minutes before, during and 1:30 after eating. I want to get used to this now, so I have one less struggle after surgery.

I must admit, when I saw my liquid diet instructions, (Posted in another thread) I had a little pitty party for myself - and nearly panicked - but I know I can do this. Look at what I've done already.

We are doing well! I'm so excited to share this journey with all of you.

Congrats and keep working in the right direction. All of these shared experiences make it easier for everyone.

I am slogging through the liquid pre-op right now and have only had one major issue. I forgot to bring powdered Protein drinks on the 12 hour flight to London. I packed them in my checked luggage, and was really glad to see that when I landed.

This week at work, Girl Scout Cookies have been circulating...I mean boxes of them.....My favorite was on my assistants desk (opened) for all to eat each day for this week ( 5 boxes).

I think this is the first year ever ! that I didn't eat not one of them.....The temptation was so great but I'm on a mission.

Well I have been on the Pre-op diet for 10 days now My diet is shaes for Breakfast and lunch and then a small high Protein and low carb dinner. Well, last night it was just my husband and youngest son so Dear Husband wanted to take us out to dinner. He went to a Chinese buffet ;) becasue that is where my youngest wanted to go.

 My Doctor had given me a card that explains what I have done(well, will have done) and I showed it to the waitress and she let me eat at a kids price 4.50 instead of 9.50. So I got a couple peices of Sushi and then a small sauce bowl of egg drop Soup and I used a small dessert plate and put some veggies and chicken, it was perfect, I ate really slow and I was full before I finished everything. I think all together it was about 2/3 cup of food. (little more then what I will be eating in the future. And I waited to drink my Water until I got home.

I was nervous, but it was cool to try the card my Dr.'s office gave me to see that they will except it. So anyway. That is my WHOO HOO for the weekend.

I would love to have one of those cards! Is there any info on there stating who made it so we could possibly order one if our doc doesn't have them? I can see how that would be a really helpful tool.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
