Unnaturally cold all the time

Recommended Posts

Banded on 3/13 and am down 20lbs. Yea me... but, i'm freezing all the time. Now, I'm not a delicate little flower (just yet) so I do have fat to keep me warm but I never had this problem before the surgery. If anything it was just the opposite (that female age thing).

Does anyone have an explanation or solution? I'm sitting her freezing??????

Michele

I've posted the same complaint too...... it comes and goes, I've heard comments that it has to do with the less amount of fat you consume to your metabolism to the less padding you have now. all i can say is, bundle up and hang in there till summer

Hmm...I am sitting her in sweatpants, socks and a blanket and my husband....shorts and a t-shirt. I am freezing all of the time. Never knew that I had a built-in "fur" coat before:tongue:

I keep hoping that my internal thermostat will recalibrate itself eventually. I was always the one in a summer nightie even in the dead of winter now im the one that sat on the beach in mexico on spring break and was chilly.

It happened to me too. I had never been cold in my entire life. Now I complain about the temperature as much as my wife does.

Me too. Even in 80 degree weather at times! Angie gave all the good causes up above...and like Kelin said, I too hope it will recalibrate eventually. But then, look at all the sweet, little old ladies...always cold. And aren't we eating like them too now? HA!!!

Yeah, I'm cold a lot of the time too. My husband insists on taking my temp all the time because he's convinced I'm sick. LOL! I take a jacket with me even if it's hot outside. Make sure you are staying hydrated. Believe it or not, hydration is a big part of it. On the days when I've gotten poor hydration, those are the days I sit around in sweats, a jacket, and wrapped in a blanket. I also like to think it's because I am becoming a delicate flower! HeeHee! I hate being cold, but love, love my weight loss. I'll just buy more jackets! :-)

I have read that taking in less calories will cause you to become cold.

Takes calories to produce engery to keep you warm or something like that.

Also, after surgery your body is a little run down.

On thing that happened to me last year after breast reduction, I developed "cold urticaria". I am allergic to the cold. I break out in a rash going especially from hot to cold. Even holding an ice cube makes my hands hurt.

A lot of weird things happen after out bodies are traumatized after surgery.

Hopefully your body will get back to normal!

I'm always cold now too. It's weird. I thought i was always cold before my surgery but it's even worse now.

I was miserably cold for about 5 months after surgery. I'm still not the sweating bag of wilt that I used to be, but it has evened out a little over time. I still have my "bad days" but it's better. I used to keep my house on 68 now I keep it at 73 or 74, or 76 with a fan. BIG difference.

I was just banded a few days ago but I have found since the day of surgery I have been freezing all the time. I used to live in Vermont (the most northern part). In the night in the winter the temperature used to get to -40 F. I always kept the window open and snuggled under the blanket. Now, when the air conditioning is on, it doesnt matter how many blankets I have, Im freezing.

Every since I started losing weight (after being banded) I am always cold. When I'm in my office I have to close the door put on a small heater, a sweater and throw a cover over my legs because I am always freezing. Once in a while I may say I'm hot but that's usually only when I'm outside and its 90 something degrees out. I always joke and tell people that I've lost all of my good fat, that it kept me warm. I love the cold but now I have to wrap up indoors and I'm just not use to that. I was thinking that maybe my Iron is low, but I've never had a problem with that in the past.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
