Help!!Too tight vs. Slippage???

Recommended Posts

I have been banded since Sept 08. Finally started feeling restriction end Jan 09 (3rd fill). Went for a 4th fill end March and told the PA about my 1st episode of PB'ing which occurred right before my appointment. She still thought I needed a fill because of the amount of food I'm still able to eat (1- 11/2cups) and she gave me 0.25cc (7.25cc total in 9cc band). That went fine, kept Water down and everything. Now, 2 weeks later, I feel very tight, especially in the mornings. Some days, though, I can eat anything. Today was the worst. I had my usual scrambled eggs (they almost always get stuck, but they're my favorite). I haven't been able to keep anything but liquids down all day!! I'm so afraid of PB'ing, but it's been the only way to get any relief today. No pain, and like I said, keeping liquids down, but I'm scared. Why would I be tighter now than 2 wks ago? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Hi Mermie,

That also happens to me. I usually feel tighter about 2 weeks later. Everyone reacts differently to their fill. I just get a small amount put in and gradually work my way up. I also was PBing constantly no matter what I would eat or drink which is definitely not good since you can stretch your pouch. I would talk to your Dr. or your PA and they can advise you further. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
