introducing myself

Hi, everybody, my name is Jackie and I had VSG last August. I've been on OH for over a year now but I came here to check out your board.

at 8 months out I've stopped losing: I'm about 5 pounds above goal and over-all feeling pretty good.

no more honeymoon, though, so there are issues to tackle!

who is here, mostly pre-ops? revisions?

whoever you are, nice to meet you!

Hi Jackie, welcome to LBT.

There are several of us that are revisions from the band to sleeve. There are some who went with the sleeve first. We are a mixed variety, but I believe we all love our sleeves.

I just revised from the band to the sleeve on April 2nd. So far, I am very happy with my decision to do so.

Hi Jackie,

I know you from OH. I am a revision from a lapband to a sleeve. In fact, there are a lot of us here; people who revised from a lapband to a sleeve. Welcome!

Jackie: Hi! I'm a pre-op. I currently have a slipped band (2nd time), I am trying to decide if I should get the sleeve for maintance. I have pretty much decided that this is what I will do. What are your issues since you almost to goal? How is your hunger? Do you find it easy to eat around the band? Do you exercise? Just wandering how life is for you with the banbd? Thanks!

And you guys all know me.

I'm one of the few who did the sleeve first off. I was going to get a band so that's how I ended up here but watching people like Susan have issues when they followed all the rules scared me.

Welcome Jackie,

I revised from a band to a sleeve on 4/1 and am very happy to have the band out. Congratulations on being almost at goal. I look forward to hearing your experiences with the VSG surgery.

Hi Jackie!

Good to see you over here. I told you this was a good forum. The software is wayyy better than OH. Gahh...

As you know I revised from a band to sleeve 10 months ago. I love my sleeve, maintenance is easy for me.

I'm glad you came over here.

I have no idea what "furl this post" means!

I am revising because I am sick of the band with all the problems of fills and unfills. I wish I had known about the sleeve from the beginning. I am looking forward to having restriction and not worrying that the band is doing some sort of damage to my stomach.

thanks for the welcome, everyone.

Karey, I just had the sleeve: never had a band. you need to get imput from revision people.

I can tell you I am very glad I didn't get a band, did not want fills, am glad I never have to worry about a slip.

about "eating around" it - you can defeat any surgery. experiences differ, I had a honeymoon period of just over 6 months where I could not have gained weight if I had wanted to but now I am to the point that I could.

it's still a tool - you have to change your eating habits forever.

yes, I exercise and it's easier than when I was obese!

Jackie: Thanks for your input. Restriction is good and so is choice. I know from having the band that cheating is always possible. Hope you enjoy this forum!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
