Had sugery on 3/19 and I am suprised that I am doing so well. I heard so may horror stories......... wasn't sure if i'd be one of them~ so far, it has been text book perfect. but then again i am listening to exactly what the doctor told me. I just started eating "normal" foods.. I haven't "tested" the band though. so i eat just until i start to feel a little pressure in my chest (not pain, just pressure). i can't start weight training with my trainer again until May 1st. But walking is allowed. I don't know what is going to happen down the road, but for now i will bask in the joy of working with my Lapband, as my Lapband is working with me. the year of preperation, and the 6 months of exercise before surgery has really paid off.... 39lbs in 3 weeks how is that possible.... i know some of it is Fluid, but not much......

and i know esp the first 2 weeks it was so hard to just drink first week clears, second week full liquids..... i mean it isn't easy........ but it is doable.

39 Lbs in 3 weeks! Congratulations. I am going to be banded ind May. I've been researching and reading post for quite some time and I know that is not typical, but one can hope. I would think it would be easy to stay motivated with results like that. Best wishes on your weight loss journey!

Hey sandi, I lost almost 50 pounds my first month post-op. Cant recall the exact numer, 46ish or something. I still dont know How I did it. Lol. I think it had to do with high blood pressure and how swollen I was due to the sodium and Water retention. Just a guess. Keep up the good work!

Congrats to all of you! It is nice to hear people being positive. I know during the preparation phase all types of things can happen, but I too believe the key is to do what your own particular doctor and staff advise. My surgery is scheduled for WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15 and I can hardly wait. This morning I had my last meal of eggs, an hour later some skim milk). For the remainder of the day I will stick with some greek non-fat yogurt and possibly a CIB Protein Shake. Tomorrow again just yogurt and Protein Drinks. Then, of course, Clear Liquids on Tuesday. I just want to be certain that my stomach, etc. is the way it should be for surgery. I do not want to be one of those people that go for surgery and the doc discovers food still there and cancels the patient. Well, thank you all for your encouragement by example. I am certain of my success because of my determination.

Sandi...OMG that is awesome CONGRATS!!!! I think you are doing things exactly as you should. I don't think there is any real reason to "test your band" although I know lots of ppl do. I am still in the soft food phase, but I plan to follow your lead. Nothing has made me sick or really disagreed with me yet, and I'm going to do my best to keep it that way!!

Keep doing everything right and nothing can stop you!!

Hi...I was banded March 12, 09...I"m down 39 as well and only .3 from that next 10 pound barrier. I'm loving it and having no issues. Have my first fill this Wednesday! Get to eat 'real foods' Thursday...still of 'soft'...keep going and enjoy it all!

Best wishes for a successful experience. It's a short process and you will probably be the one to experience slight or no pain! But, if there is a little pain, keep your eyes on the goal!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
