Ok, So today I get my first fill! I am kinda nervous. I am worried that it will hurt. Also worried that I still will not have any restriction. I had surgery on 2/20/09, and have lost around 20lbs. So wish me luck!

I was banded on 2/12/09. I have had my first fill. The proceedure with my DR. is you lay down on the table. He will feel for your port with his fingers. Once he finds it, his nurse sprays some cold spray (pain killer) and he sticks the needle in. You really do not feel it. I too was nervous. I specifically asked them what they were planning to do to me in this strange room. They were very nice and explained the whole process to me. Just ask, tell them you are a fill virgin and they will help you through this too.

My first fill didn't hurt, in fact none of them have. HOWEVER...odds are very good that you will NOT have restriction yet. It took me to fill 4 to "feel the love". My surgeon is conservative but most people don't feel the first one much. You may feel it psychologically, but physiologically probably not much.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
