Changing Goals...

Recommended Posts

On the day of my surgery, I set a goal of 230 pounds.

My reason was simple... On surgery day, I weighed 370. Going down to 230 meant I could easily Celebrate making the halfway point, and getting to 300 in one whack.

But now that I am within 40 pounds of that goal, my looking at my saggy body, it is time to renegotiate that goal... and drop it down a bit.

So why a new goal of 212? Also simple. On January 1, 2008, I woke up New Years day weighing 412.:thumbup::confused::wink:

Between then and July 25th when I had surgery, I lost 42 pounds, but that 412 is as real to me as my surgery weight. To reach 212 would mean 200 pounds down.

So my new goals...

230 by July 25 (my one year banding anniversary)

212 by January 1 (200 down in 2 years).

Not that there is really a lot to say about this, but just thought I would share. Thanks for listening.

Steve - Congratulations on your new goal.

My surgery weight was lower than my highest, but it's the highest that means more to me than the surgery weight and that's the number I keep in my head. So, it's understandable!

Good luck with your new goal(s)! :)

Setting goals that are reachable instead of unrealistic ones is a good idea. Once you have reached your first goal, then you can set your next one. Keep up the good work. I'm rooting for you.

Holy cow you're doing well. Keep up the good work.

I am froze in time at 90lbs lost for now. If I ever get the scale moving again I might reevaluate too.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
