Reading all of your up's and down's, this Kiwi is looking at Lap Banding(BMI 52), it will be life changing, not to mention life saving. Any other NZ's on this site? Great seeing everyones 'tickers' although not sure how to put mine on:confused:

Hey there,

I am booked in for the band at the end of May, I can't wait. Good luck with making your decision.

Not sure if there are any other kiwi's here, I haven't been here too long. I am also unsure about the ticker business- sorry!

Cheers,

Tully.

Hi big G

I am not a kiwi but am married to a white kiwi ( would spell maori name but cant lol)... He comes from the bottom of south island...

I am to be banded on the 8th June, so that count down has started for me.

Hope you find the site a great help so you can make the choice that suits you.

Cheers

Danielle

Hey Big G

I'm a kiwi girl living in Aus :smile2: Had my surgery on 24/3 - and although it's only been 2 weeks, I can honestly say that I KNOW it's been the best decision ever!

I dont' know what the cost is back home, but thankfully I was able to access my superannuation otherwise I would never have been able to afford it.

Kia kaha  And let me know how you go!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
