I know exactly what you mean. I was banded on the 10th and this past week when I was started on mushie foods - I really feel like I can eat alot more food than I should. I have thought about going back to liquids but don't want to if I don't have to. Should I eat more or just live through the rumbling?

What kind of mushy/pureed meal are you eating? I focused on higher Protein meals. I used my food processor to puree: chicken salad, chili, and tuna salad. I also ate refried Beans with ff sour cream and cheddar cheese. If you eat higher Protein content foods, it may curb your hunger. Fix only the amount you are supposed to eat. Chew it, even though it is pureed, and eat it slowly. See if that helps satiate your hunger.

Whatever you do, try to eat the recommended amounts for now, even if it means you must eat every 3 hours instead of 4-5. You don't want to begin your lapband journey stretching your pouch. I eat about a cup of food or a little more somtimes now per meal, but I am 8 months post op.

I was banded on the 18th and felt hungry on day 7. But I remembered my surgeon telling me to make sure I get my Water in. Make sure you are drinking your water requirement and eat your food slowly. I came home one day and was hungry... I warmed some ff cream of chicken up and ate really slowly, drank my water and had 2 tsp of sf pudding. 15 minutes later I was full. Remember this surgery is a life change and the greatest advice I got from my cousin is that all the food that I miss or crave is not going anywhere and life is not worth wondering about the Baconator at Wendys. LOL:biggrin: Good Luck all!

this is whats known as bandster hell. it's when your suposed to be only eating mushies or liquids but can and want to eat solids. BUT DON"T these first few weeks are about healing. if you don't lay off the solids and give your band time to heal it could mean a band slip later on. so for now stick to the post op diet you have been given. you have no restriction yet so you will be hungry. it might take up to 3 fills before you ever feel any restriction at all. hang in there!!!

I was banded May 15m 2008 and my band started working for me in December 2008. It takes a while to get to the point when 2 fork full's will be all you can eat. Some are diffrent but the honest truth for me is that it took almost 7-mths for the band to really start working for me and it really feels good... NOW... LOL so give it some time.. you will have to depend on your own will power for a few months....

Okay... you guys are driving me nuts with the Baconator!!! My husband and I joke about that burger all the time:smile: - although I have only tried it once, the combination is one of my favorites.

I'm 3 weeks out from surgery and am supposed to eat 1/2 to 1 cup at a meal. I'm eating 3/4 cup (6 oz), with at least 4 ounces of that being Protein, now trying to add in more fruits and veggies. I only make that much, nothing more, so when it is gone, it is gone. Once in a while I don't even eat all of that. So far that keeps me content. I am allowed to have 1-2 cups of milk between meals if I get "hungry" and do that once in a while, but most of the time the 6 ounces is enough. I haven't gone over that as I don't want to get used to taking in more than I need right now.

This time before our first fill is when we have to rely on willpower as we have little or no restriction. I drink Water like crazy between meals to help keep me full. This too shall pass! Hang in there!

I was banded 12-23-08. After the first two weeks the swelling went down and my HUNGER returned! :w00t: I went by my book and ate the foods recommended BUT I sometimes had more than it said. I had 1/2 cup more Soup or an extra sf pudding. I told my doc about this. As I said before if I could have done it on my own I would have! Sometimes I would munch on a raw vegetable. Anything on my list of OK foods. It helps with the gnawing hunger and better than caving in with a bag of popcorn! I don't know if this helps and it might not be the perfect solution, but if I'm starving and my stomach is growling I usually feed it!

I have lost 30 pounds now.

It is so nice to know that other people are going through this too! I am so hungry right now it is driving me crazy!!! I know how important it is to keep the amounts down so I am eating what I am supposed to but more often than 4-5 hours. I probably eat something every 2-3 hours instead. I am just trying to make it to my first fill so I can feel some restriction.

Relax! Your band is healing, swelling going down and hunger coming back. Be prepared. your first fill might not work. Sometimes, it take more fills before you feel restriction. I finally got restriction on the 3rd fill. Up until then, you will have to count on your willpower. No one said it was going to be easy. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
