Anyone hypothyroid with the LB?

Recommended Posts

I am hypo, I was hyper after having my son. I had to have radio-active iodine to "kill" it. I feel like I am hitting my head against a wall trying to lose weight, I do not think it is the thyroid, I am on 112 Synthroid and my levels are fine. What do you all eat, how often (3 or 6 meals) and how many calories? Just wondering how the weight is coming off? I have not lost anything since my daughter was born 20 months ago, aside from the 35 pounds I gained with her. I am very frustrated, had a fill Monday and still don't really feel restricted. Anyway, just thought I would ask, to see if anyone had any ideas.

Jodi,

Wow! Your stats look amazing! You were about where I will be starting and are now where I want to be! Pics please!

I haven't posted Before and After pics yet. I will do so when I actually reach goal which shouldn't be too long now.

Thanks for starting this thread. I wondered if anyone else shared my situation. I was on thyroid medicine for about five years then my numbers leveled off and I didn't need to take any medicine for 2.5 years. My blood levels were good in August 2008. My surgery was in December 2008. In February 2009 my bloodwork showed I needed to go back on thyroid medicine. I'm on a small dose and will go back for a recheck next month. Taking llevoxyl in the am is a good way to get in my first glass of Water.

I have never heard of this before. Thyroid disease is not curable, only treatable. I was told by my endocrinolgist that I will need to stay on Synthroid for life. Once your numbers level off you need to keep taking the meds to keep the numbers level and also have them rechecked from time to time to make sure your dosage is right.

It depends on why someone is hypothyroid. There are times that there are temporary causes for the disorder.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
