Trust me it is not that bad at all, and is so worth it. I've only been banded for just a little over a month now and I have no regrets. I personally feel the hardest part is waiting for the approval, just because you're so anxious to get it done. The good thing about anestesia is its over before you even know it. The tests they perform are just to make sure your surgery goes as safely. Everything they do is for a reason, and if this is something you really want it will all be worth it in the end. Good luck to you.

Everyone reacts to it differently, but to be honest that is the one thing I was terrified of as well. I had never had surgery of any kind, but I don't remember a thing. Some people said they had a sore throat from the tube, but I didn't even have that. Good Luck to you!

Been there ,done that !!!! Mar 28th will be two months since I was banded. I too was terrified of the antesthetic, I just NEW I was not going to wake up .And here I am in Lap Band Land . No regrets and feeling GREAT and 26lbs off. My whole process took me almost 7 mos to go thru all the hoops. I knew it was going to take awhile so I tried not to think of how long it was going to take and before I knew it I was waking up from my surgery. You are going to be fine ,so hang in there and go for it . Its a heck of a ride !!! Good luck on your journey! Paula

It was easy. I've had dental appts. that were worse. I had little pain, I recovered fast. The preop tests were nothing, either. (I had upper GI, ecg, blood drawn, chest x-ray, and an abdominal ultrasound, plus the psych consult. Easy breezy all)

It's your call...a life of health for a little discomfort...to me it was a no-brainer.

If you'd like, send me a PM and I can talk with you about anesthesia and how it feels. I'm a nursing student (graduate in May YAY!) and a person who's been through 3 surgeries, so I can maybe help alleviate some of your fears.

I was banded 12/09/09 and have had no problems. Yeah, you may be uncomfortable a few days, but anesthesia is nothing. I had a sore throat for a few days and some shoulder pain, but no regrets. I have lost 34 lbs to date and I am loving it. Just think about your health in the long run.

You're experiencing the normal feelings and thoughts about surgery. Just know we all have had some level of aprehension which is normal. Just do everything your doctor says, asks questions and just go with the flow. The band is the best thing you could ever do for yourself. Just figure, if you don't do anything you'll stay on this roller coaster of weight gain/loss which is far worst on you physcially than than the anesthia. I hope this helps.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
