I am nervous please calm me down

Recommended Posts

To put things in perspective, the risks from this surgery are far far less than the risks of being severely or morbidly obese. Personally, I don't love the idea of this surgery myself. I'm not particularly scared of surgery (have had my appendix out and two c-sections), but I wish I didn't need it. But, I do so I will. Have faith. You will come out of this great!

Thank you all again for trying to calm me down. I just wanna let you know that I am starting my pre op diet today. My surgery date is April 7th :-)

Thanks again for your support,

Alisa

I'm getting a little nervous too. I was able to ignore the impending surgery date (March 31st) until today, when I started my week long liquid diet. . .I keep telling myself it will be as easy as my gall bladder surgery!!! Here's hoping!!! Just wanted to let you know you aren't alone. I worry for my 3 year old too! I was signing the consent forms yesterday and about 10 pages in I got a bit panicky, so I skimmed the risks (since I'd already read them prior to deciding to do this) instead of reading them again in detail. Helped! lol.

tcbgirl,

However, if you look at statistics, your chances are EXTREMLY high that your surgery will be a perfect success. You probably have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than for your surgery to have fatal complications.

Or if you really like stats, you could consider that you are probably more likely to get in a horrific car accident on the way to surgery than to die as a result of the surgery. I don’t mean to make light of it, but it really is a fairly simple procedure with relatively low risks.

If you are really concerned about your kids (I was about mine), consider the risks you are putting them in by you continuing to be obese. The longer you stay fat, the higher the chances are of you dying due to complications related to obesity.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
