Hey all!!

My name is Samantha and me & my family are air force and stationed out in florida right now.

I have chosen to get the lap band surgery done. I have tricare so it is going really fast. I had my first evaluation yesterday and they told me i will have my surgery date by friday. And they are scheduling 4 weeks out right now so they told me to expect mid-april.

Now I just need to go get my psy evaluation, diet eval, esophogram and gallbladder ultrasound.

A little about me...I have a wonderful husband and 3 great kids. My kids are ages 3 yrs, 2 yrs, and 6 months (this is why i'm overweight cause i didn't lose it in between kids lol)

I'm very excited to see a forum to seek advice from and give advice after I have had experiences. And also to share my succees when it comes

Welcome. You have a beautiful family. I was banded on 2/13 and already my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. Good luck and if you are looking for a buddy - I will be here.

Karen

Congrats.

Thought you'd like to know that there's a bunch of us getting banded in April. If you go HERE, you'll find an area where you can find us all.

You've also been added to THIS LIST of April Bandsters

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
