Everyone is different. I went in on Friday the 18th, stayed home the following work week and weekend then returned to work on the 28th. I was sore, but I work in an office and was able to cope.

I had it on a Friday and returned to work on Tuesday 4 days later. I even went to a support group meeting that night as well. It all depends how you feel and what your Dr. suggest. I work in a office and was moving around slowly. No one mind but I did get funny looks. Good Luck !!!!

Hello!! I'm very new to this site, not even 24 hours :-) and haven't even had my first class yet. Was suppose to yesterday but messed up the time so I'll try again this coming Wednesday. Anyway, I'm not sure I'm replying right but thank you all for answering my question. I work in an office too. So I should be good then.

Thank you,

Michelle

It depends on the type of work that you do. For me, I had surgery on Thursday and went back to work (in an office) on Monday for a half day. Full days the rest of the week but I took it easy. Your stomach will be sensitive. My issue was the that port incision kept rubbing against my desk. Also, I had to get off the pain meds before going back to work because they made me loopy. So all things depend on your situation.

God Bless!

I had my surgery on Wednesday and went back to work the following Wednesday. I could have gone back Monday but I'm glad I took the 2 extra days. I was so tired/sleepy about half way through each day. I've heard that the sleepiness is from the anesthesia still getting out of your system???

I had surgery on Friday and went back to work monday for a half of a day and the Tuesday for 6 hours and the back to a regular day Wednesday. Today I am 8 days out and I am feeling really good. I even went for an hour walk today. It really gets better every day.

It took me two weeks. I'm kind of a weenie about pain, so I needed that time.

I work a desk job, but didn't realize how much I bent side to side and twisted and so it was tough, I would get sore at my desk and have to get up and walk around.

Let me just suggest this....after surgery...walk, walk, walk. I don't mean long distances. Walk around the house. Walk around your yard. A slow walk around the block. But get up and walk! It will help keep those muscles and incisions loose and help you heal quicker (also helps get the air out of you after surgery). My surgeon made me get up and walk around just hours after surgery, I was so mad at the time, but realized he was totally right

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
