Hi,

This is my first time posting to anything like this. I was banded in Oct. 08. So far I have lost 35lbs. My doctor was Dr. Kevin Higa. I have had to fills, but could not tell you how much or even what band I have in. After reading some of your blogs, I really feel un-informed. My last fill was in Feb. and I had lost 8 lbs. that month and he really didn't want to give me another fill. Since then I have not lost any weight and I do feel restricted after eating a meal but I am finding I really want to snack which really got me to this point to begin. I am really feeling down. :sneaky: I did have a strange thing happen to me after my last fill which I haven't talked to my doctor about. About a week after my fill I woke up with a bite or what I thought was a bite on the spot where he had injected me. It itched but went away shortly after I got up. It happen again the next day, since then it hasn't happened again. This may be a stupid question but could my port have leaked? I have noticed I don't get as full as fast as I think I should, and am afraid I have either stretched my pouch or has my band slipped?

Any help with my worries would be great. I go back to my doctor next month and really can afford to go back before.

Thanks

I would go to your doc and demand to know exactly how many cc's are in your band. What type of band...etc. You have to live with this in your body so you need to be informed. This is what I would do. Once the doc tells you how many cc's you have tell them to take it all out and see how much comes out. If the total match's no leak. Keep in mind I didn't feel restriction until my third fill. The more weight you lose the looser the band gets. Keep measuring your food 4-6 oz and eat every 3 hours. Make sure your eating animal Proteins like, chicken and fish. If you are doing that and it take more than 6oz to be satisfied (not full) then you need a fill. Believe me having too much restriction is not fun. Good luck and demand to know all the details of your band.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
