I'm SO excited, and just HAVE to share..I stepped out of Lane Bryant 4 the LAST time!

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I just wanted to share another SUPER milestone in my lapband journey!

I went shopping today and tried on my old size..WAY too big! I tried on 2 full sizes smaller and it FIT. I tried on over 20 things (tops, jeans, etc) and they all FIT comfortably. I cannot tell you how exciting that is.

On top of that, I went to Lane Bryant and tried some things on. I tried on the 14/16's and they fit comfortably (in general) but nothing looked great. As I walked out of the store, I knew and vowed that I would NEVER STEP IN A LANE BRYANT again!!:)

It was a moment I KNOW I will remember for a very long time, and I mean it. Let me tell you people, when I can fit into a size "L" I think I will throw a block party. I love my band and my new healthier life! Just had to share, thanks for your support during our journey's together!:)

Congrats! It's a wonderful feeling, isn't it? I went to Old Navy and tried on a pair of size 20 pants....they fell off me. I tried an 18 and those were loose in the waist but fit me nicely everywhere else. A size 16 fit in the waist but was a little tight in the legs. This was two weeks ago. The size 16 I bought now fit! :) I also tried on a coat at the Gap in a size XL and it FIT! Woo hoo! I haven't been able to shop outside the plus sizes in 12 years. I love my new size! :)

I am totally ready to be able to put on one of those pairs of pants and have it fit me I know that just being able to shop at a regular store is one of the greatest feelings yet and I am so happy for you!

Thank you all so much for the words of congratulations and support, it means SO much! For those who have experienced what I have, WOW, GREAT WORK! For those who are on their way, I cannot begin to tell you how completely exciting it is and how much you have to look forward to.

I literally feel like a brand new person that people don't look at like "what is that fat chick doing shopping here", but literally, "wow, I wonder where she got that outfit, it's so cute" :)

Thanks again and I look forward to those of you on thit thread experiencing the exact same thing, over and over (as we keep shrinking):)

For the first time in years I actually enjoyed swimsuit shopping yesterday! I'm far from looking good in a swimsuit for sure, but last year's 3X granny suit was too tight and I ended up buying a comfy XL tankini for this year!

Feels so good to try on a size that I think will fit and find it's too big, can't even describe the emotion!

Thats so funny, when I saw this post I couldn't believe it! I wasn't alone in thinking the same thing! I told my husband at the begining of this, "I know I am successful when I never shop at Lane Bryant again!" Thank you for the words of advice and congrats on making it as far as you have!

I missed Lanes when I couldn't wear her clothes anymore. They have a great selection of nice clothes. But what a wonderfull feeling not to have to wear that size any more. I've lost 100lbs and love myself.!!!!! Always look for me clothes instead of everyone else. Is that BAD???

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
