Trying to figure out this fill thing!

Recommended Posts

I had my second fill after being rebanded (that's a whole other story). My first fill was 2.5 and this fill was 2.0 for a total of 4.5 While in his office, I drank Water and it seemed to go down ok but then on my way back to work, I started feeling a little weird. When I got to work about an hour later, I drank some coffee thinking the warm liquid would help. Not so much...it didn't stay down. I thought maybe my body just needed time to adjust but it wasn't to be. When I got home, I called my doctor and he said to just try to wait it out and if I wasn't better by morning to come to his office first thing. But after talking to him, it was so bad, I couldn't even swallow my own spit. I tried to wait it out but at 10:30 that night when I tried to go to bed, it was even worse. I felt like I was suffocating. I called him back and he said he would meet me in the ER and do a slight unfill. It was about 11:30 p.m. when I got to the ER and I had to wait for about an hour. When he did the unfill, he removed 1.0 leaving me with 3.5 Instantly I felt relief. I'm just wondering if 3.5 is my max. My band is a 10 cc band. I wonder what the average max fill is for this band. I'm thinking 4.5 was too much for me but I'm not sure 3.5 is giving enough restriction. Will I be able to tolerate more later? I'm so confused!!!

Sometimes, just a little bit makes a huge difference. When you are first starting to get fills, there is a fat pad around your stomach. When you lose weight, you lose weight everywhere - including that fat pad. Therefore, the band will get looser as you lose weight and you will need more of a fill.

I have a 10 cc band as well. I didn't have any restriction for my first 2 fills (for a total of 5 cc). I had perfect restriction with my 3rd fill (1 more cc), but that restriction went away after a few weeks. I went in for another fill of 1 cc. That one was too much for me, so they took out .5 cc. That slight unfill left me with very little restriction.

The moral of the story is that just because you get restriction with a certain amount of cc right now, doesn't mean that you won't need more or less later. That's the beauty of the band - it is adjustable.

Good luck with your journey!

I have 6+ in mine and the restriction is waning. Will go at the end of the month to get another fill to something over 6.5.

I had my 3rd fill March 9th i was already at 5cc in my 10 cc band and my Dr. put in 1 more cc and i did the drink test and it was to tight. He took out .50 out and i thought i was o.k. went home and couldnt keep anything down not even my spit!:) Next day he took out the rest of my fill which set me back to the 5cc i had before. I went home and that night i started to vomit :eek:again and couldnt keep anything down. So again went back for the third time in one week and my Dr. took out ALL of my 5cc out of my band to let my stomach rest. I hope with me being as stricked as i can can keep the 42 pounds that i had already lost off until April 6th when i have to start over with my fills.:)

Each fill level seems to have its own 'journey' if you will.

I was up to 4.6 and had that level for 4 months and swore that was the highest I would go. Then because of the my steady wt loss one day I woke up and had no restriction (major hunger, ate everything in the house, ate french bread...)- now I am somebody who has had the sensation of restriction since they first put the band on me. So it was totally bizarre.

So I went in and the nurse jacked me up to 5.4 and I am having trouble getting coffee down. I have PBed 2 times since friday...I am not sure what I am going to do..if I PB too much more I will ask for a slight unfill..

I HATE this part of the journey..

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
