Anyone taking Celexa?

Is anyone else having/had a surge of depression post surgery?

Missy,

I've been having a pretty awful bout of depression since I had my surgery two months ago. I've been in the middle of a bad patch for about 1 1/2 years now, but it's gotten much worse. I have read some stuff about how surgery (any kind) can trigger depression, but I don't know if that's what caused this.

There are some things I know how to do to help me out of this, but it's hard doing them. Exercise is something I'm trying to make myself do, because I know it helps. The other thing is doing things with people, because I tend to cut myself off from social life when I'm depressed.

Hang in there.

Depression can feel like a curse sometimes. I'm having my meds tweaked after they started making me sick to my stomach after passing through the pouch. I am tight to a point where anything in a gel cap or bigger than an m & m gets struck. Finding something that works for me and wont make me puke is becoming a challenge. What totally sucks is that my meds were adjusted PERFECT; but then they all of a sudden started making me sick. Go figure. I'm now on Lexapro (same family as Celexa), small dose of Elavil (what was making sick at a higher dose) and Trazidone at night. I feel better than without anything, but am still not 100%. Sigh.... mellow.gif

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
