Just wondering how many Bandsters & Pre-Bandsters are in Arkansas?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just found this site. I am considering getting the lap band surgery. I am in El Dorado. I am 61 years old and have diabetes, high blood pressure and psoriatic arthritis....so I really need to lose the weight. Glad to be here and learn as much as I can so that I can make the right decision. It is scarey though!

Hi There! Yep, that is me! I really need to lose some weight so I can enjoy gardening! LOL. How are you? Are you banded? If so, tell me about your experience and how hard it was to get approved or if you had to pay for it yourself.

:nervous I'm not banded yet but I have a tenative surgery date of 1/19/06. I am going to self pay because my ins is one of the worst about covering band surgery. I have met with my surgeon once, the nutritionist and psychologist also. I have a preop appt on 1/6/06 and will get a list of blood work I will need for the surgery and then I hope everything will be good to go. M

Hello! I was banded by Dr. Keilin in Texarkana, Tx. It is right on the line though and I do live in Arkansas (Nashville).

:kiss I used to live in Texarkana, AR but moved to just north of Dallas. So I consider myself an ARKANSAN. But I will be rooting for UT tonight. M

I was banded this morning in Texarkana. It has been pretty uneventful so far. I pray that it stays that way. I have walked several times today. I have not had to take any pain medication as of yet (and I am a pain woosie). I have chewed a couple Gas-X pills. I felt a little sore after I napped for about 3 hours, but after I got up and started stirring around, that improved. I have had no appetite, and have really focused on the Water intake. I plan to work on a Slim Fast for some Protein before I retire for the evening.

Dr. Heiker assured me that my soreness will probably peak on Friday, so I realize I may have opportunity to take some pain meds. I just had that pain med feeling, so will try Tylenol by itself first.

Good Luck to All!

So far I have very pleased with my doctors and their entire staff. It is day 2 right now, and an still doing very well. I got up made the bed, started the laundry, and emptied the diswasher. Activity seems to help the soreness alot. I am not lifting anything, and I also make sure I don't bend to the ground.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
