Fill or not

Recommended Posts

I love my band but the hardest thing for me is knowing whether or not I need a fill. Sometimes I think it is at a perfect fill level and I can eat small portions but sometimes I can eat more than other times and I feel too much and then I think I need a fill so I call to make an appointment but the minute I do the next day it is tighter again - anyone else have this issue?

I feel the same way. I went last Wednesday for my 3rd fill and he put 1cc in and it was so tight I had to puree food to be able to eat it and I lost 5lbs in 5 days so he met me at work and took .5cc out now I feel like I can eat just about anything. I'm so mad at myself for calling him it might have gotten better in a few days.

one thing i decided to do is to go on a liquid diet for 2 to 3 days before i think about getting another fill - that way you shrink your pouch down as low as possible and if you dont need a fill then you will get some good restriction back from doing that otherwise if you are still not full on 1 cup of solid food after doing liquid for 2 or 3 days then you know you are probably ready for a fill. Another benefit of doing that is it kick starts you into a good loss again too if you are plateauing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
