Need some advice !

Recommended Posts

Well, I haven't been on here in a few months and I knew that I could come here for some help. I had my 4th fill in January. Just a fourth of a cc~~~just needed a little tweeking! Was doing pretty well with my eating and losing some weight, kind of slow but I don't mind as long as it is coming off! I was wanting to know if stress plays a role in the tightness of the band in any way? My dad had a massive heart attack a couple of weeks ago and it seems like ever since then that I am having troble eating. I use a baby spoon and try to eat slowly but it just seems that I can't eat much at all! What I can eat one day I may not be able to the next! And is slimming and PBing different than vomitting? I know I should call my doctor but I thought I would ask some of you that may have had some of the same things going on that I do!

Yes, people have reported that their bands tighten up when they are under stress.

PB is just a nice term for vomiting. It stands for productive burp. You burp and food comes up with it. I have had that happen. More often, food gets stuck and

you start the sliming. That is when the body starts producing what it thinks will make the food go through the band. Unfortunately, it does not work. It just globs up in there with the stuck food. Eventually, whatever is stuck will come up. I have actually had this go on for hours.

You need to make sure you're taking tiny itty bitty bites. We are talking the size of a pencil eraser. Then chew it up until there is nothing left to chew.

The band is very fickle. It's true that a certain food may work fine one day, the next it gives you trouble. That is why it's important to chew it up until it's liquid in your mouth.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
