Hang in there! I think each of us is gonna lose at our own rate. I weighed 386 pounds at the first visit with my surgeon on August 21st, started pre-op diet on Oct 5th, had dropped to 373 at time of 2nd appointment with my surgeon on Oct. 9th after all the pre-op tests had been completed, had the surgery on Oct. 27th. I was down to 327 at the first post surgical follow up on November 3rd. Next follow up in December I had dropped to 307. In January the loss slowed dropping only to 303 at this time a 1cc fill was done. In February I only lost 2 pounds to 301 and a 2cc fill was done. March brought the biggest surprise to date I had dropped to 284 pounds and am still dropping. In 7 months I have dropped 102 pounds. I was banded by Dr. Bridget Brady with Southwest Bariatric in Austin, Texas.

A little information I left out of my earlier post, I have 3cc's of fills in a 10cc band. I have three goals set for my weight loss the first of which I've met;

Goal # 1 get to under 300 pounds

Goal # 2 get BMI under 40

Goal # 3 get to 200 pounds or less.

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
