Jack's right (as usual!) that you should've been given direction. Having said that; the band is your tool and you work it as you see fit. Some diet and count calories, some join organizations like WW, some do low carb, Atkins-esque diets. I just eat "normally" but less. I DO try to "think healthy" when in the store...fruit instead of Cookies, no chips, wheat Fiber enriched bread, etc, but I do eat normal food. Not all have that approach. If I diet I obsess and eventually burn out. This more "lifestyle" approach works best for me, but we are all different.

You'll find the way that works for you.

Hello mom24kiddos,

Do not confuse, go through this chart:

Week 1 – 2: Full liquids

Week 2 – 4: Full Liquid/Pureed

Week 5: Transition to Soft Foods

Week 6: Transition to Regular

Week 7+ : Regular- Raw Vegetables and Fruits, Lean Cuts of Red meat chewed thoroughly.

Exercise is the other key factor to making your weight loss winning and lifelong. Diet alone will help you lose weight, but adding in a daily amount of work out will help you burn calories and fat which will lead to faster weight loss with more results.

Earlier it has been posted in other threads, please do browse LapBandTalk you will get your answer as well also would you like to know more about Lap Band weight loss surgery diet and exercise...

Thanks!

I got a book from my doc that was required reading and it had a huge section on eating post band. To sum it up, lean Protein first, veggies second, and starches third. Not a low carb diet but for sure a low 'bad carb' diet. 4-6 ounces of food at each meal, no fluids with meal and for an hour afterward. I am in maintenance now and have a goal of 1500 calories between 4 meals a day.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
