Boddy Bugg Users

I want a body bugg and I have been given the go ahead by the hubby as it will come out of his tax return. But, I am not sure if it is worth the price tag and I'll feel guilty for spending if I can't really justify it. I feel I am always looking for novelty, something to renew my committment to my weight loss. But, I always seem to abandon to whole thing after a couple of months. I have a gym membership, Weight Watchers pass, a wii FIT and a freaking lap band, but I am still engaging in the same old habits. Now, I want a new toy but do I really need it? Please tell me how much you think yours has TRULY impacted your ongoing success. Is it a motivator?? Thanks for the replies, I am sooooo on the fence.

Check out the Gowear Fit, made by the same people with a lower price tag. Yes, it has helped me A LOT, especially as I got towards the end of my goal.

TxChelsey - I found my BodyBugg on Ebay - got the last version (grey, now there is a black one) and spent less than half of the retail cost (approx $130) plus $99 for the program.

I already like it, though I've only had it on for two days. I like the more accurate measurement of calories burned during exercise - I was guessing before, and guessing wrong!

I'm burning more than I thought I was, which is not a license to eat more, but means that if I keep up what I'm doing, I'll lose the weight faster than I might have thought. That is a benefit!

I like electronic gadgets, and the bugg doesn't show under my sweaters or jackets, so no one at work really knows I have it.

I highly recommend it - YMMV

Thanks, gingerbug! I spent a good amount of time comparing and I ordered the Gowear Fit armband and display today. It was over $100 cheaper than the bodybugg v3 and the monthly subsciption to access the site is half the price as well. It is the same product from the same manufacturer!! I am sooooo excited, I can hardly wait for it to arrive!!

im really considering getting the gowear fit. i am not a traditional exerciser meaning that if i get on the treadmill im bored in 20 minutes and im usually off to do something else. because of this, i dont really have a hold on exactly how many calories im burning and i think the gowear fit would really help.

do you think it would be a good motivator for someone like me?

Absolutely. It is cool when you upload all your information to your computer and you can see minute per minute how many calories your burn. Also, rocking music really helps with the treadmill.

One thing that drives me crazy. Everytime I go to the site I have to log in again. The "rememer me" function doesn't seem to work.

gingerbug, can you be more specific on how it helped you get your last 14 pounds off. As you can see, I have 12 pounds left and I'm really fighting to lose it. I have started exercising with the C25K, and would really like to understand how the Gowear Fit plays into my daily routine.

Thanks for any info!

The biggest thing for me is it takes the guess work out of how many calories I burn. I already track what I eat so it makes sense to track what I work off. It was really eye opening, it appears that I burn less than what I thought I was going by the online calculators for the activity I was doing. It also let me zero in on what was really getting those calories burning. Running and sweaty, uphill vigurous walking burn tons of calories for me as does pulling a wagon with 80 pounds of children in one hand and hold a leash attached to an 80 pound dog in the other for 4 miles, LOL. Just knowing how many calores I was burning made me more aware to keep moving. When you upload the arm band to the computer it shows it as a graph with spikes with your activity throughout the day. What is fun is that you can hold the mouse pointer over the minutes of the day and see hoe many calories you burned that particular minute. Then you see a flat line where you can tell you were sitting on your ass for an hour watching tv. Fear the flat line!!! LOL, I do not want to upload my armband and see no spikes! It becomes a challange to create as much movement as possible throughout the day. It also tracks sleep at night and can tell when you wake up and tells you the quality of sleep you get so that is cool, too. I also found that when I compared my calorie intake against what the armband said I burned, the deficit coincided ON THE NOSE with what I lost with the exception of when I was menstrating or had way too much sodium. I tended to ccatch up later, though.

It helps me stay motivated when the scale isn't moving. I weight myself way too much, but now I can see how I'm doing everyday.

I agree 110%. I got the body bugg a few weeks ago and it is unbelievable how motivating it is. I set the goals and will do extra things to make sure I hit the daily goal. It makes me want to do more and be more active. It takes the guessing out of caloric intake vs. output. It really does make me want to do more and be more active. I don’t know how to explain it.

I was having a hard time paying the hefty price tag but like my husband told me…. If you spent XXX amount of dollars for the surgery then you might as well go all the way. So I did and I don’t regret it. :)

I just bought a HRM today instead. It was a $110 for $30 at Buy.com!

The HRM do the same thing but are more accurate. I was putting off getting one because the good ones start at around $100 and I didn't want to spend the money.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
