need some help losing weight in a certain area

Recommended Posts

ok... so the weight is coming off... slowly but surely... and my results are great, however I have hit a problem and have decided that the gym needs to be added to my program.

What I am wondering is... how do I get rid of that gut that formed under my belt (not sure what to call it, but my "sub gut" pelvic area does not seem to be going away. It really sucks... I am wearing 38 waist now and if it weren't for this fat in my pelvic area, I would probably be a 36 now.

Has anyone battled this, does it go away with continued weight loss? Is there a good excercise to work this area (I heard crunches don't target this area).

My goal is to lose another 30 lbs and it may go away with the last 30... but I am not sure and am looking for any feedback I can get. Any thoughts?

You need to work your lower abs. Start out slow, because these are hard. I would suggest start by lying down on the floor and put your hands underneath your lower back. Lift your legs 90 degrees. Start out slow. It take a lot of work and pain for that matter to build up those muscles. If floor hurts your back try it on the edge of a bed. At my gym we have a leg lift chair, but take it from me dont bother with that until you build up some strength in that region. Also do torso twists and that will help. like they say 'no pain no gain'

Unfortunately your body will decide in what order it will burn fat. Exercising a location does not cause the fat cells in that area to be used up(shrink actually, they never go away) before fat cells in other areas. Exercising the muscle groups in that area can tone it and make it look better.

Just keep getting the weight off and don't give up! :(

What he said. You can't "spot reduce" a fatty area by targeting.....You have to lose overall bodyfat. The bad news: That area sometimes requires plastic surgery to correct, even after you're @ goal.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
