Considering Banding-Need more info please!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I am considering banding as Maples Surgical Centre in Winnipeg. A really huge concern for me is the money. I was wondering if anyone has gone through financial institutions for the loan, I know the clinic offers some programs for financing but I am concerned I may not be approved. I hate that it is not covered and it is so expensive.

Also, if anyone has personal experience from Maples I would love to hear that as well.

I would love to hear anything has to say to me, except mean things, thanks!!!

Take care!!!

I'm in Toronto, so I can't offer any advice re Manitoba clinics or financing options - but I just wanted to say congratulations on your decision to get banded.

This was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I'm thrilled with the results.

Hi Bethy, I just had lapband surgery at the Maples clinic. I didn't go the finance route so I don't know what the terms are. I would suggest that you call and ask to speak to Jen she is the coordinator for the lapband surgeries. I'm sure she would be able to point you in the right direction to see what you would need to get qualified. I don't get my first fill till Mar. 17th but so far I'm feeling very positive about having had the surgery. Good luck with whatever you decide!:sneaky:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
