Submitting all info to insurance tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Just left my soon-to-be surgeons office. I am using Dr. Dewitt in Birmingham. He is sending all the info to BCBS tomorrow. Hopefully the approval/denial will come fast so I can get on with the next step whatever that is. I guess now the waiting game begins and that part may drive me nuts

I wish you a speedy approval. BCBS seems to be one of the better ones as for approvals so I'm predicting good news from you in a few days. :->

Thanks a bunch guys. For the last few months I have been weighing and getting all other insurance requirements together and I guess it never dawned on me that I would finally get to the end of that process. Sounds kind of silly I know but everything is just becoming very real, very fast and it is exciting. I think somewhere down deep inside I wasn't expecting to hear the words "I'll send everything to BCBS tomorrow and then we can get down to scheduling your surgery" Looking soooooo forward to it.

I used Dr DeWitt also. I had my surgery on Feb 6th. I really like him and his staff. They have been wonderful. My out of pocket at the hospital was greater than I expected, but that is not Dr DeWitt's fault. I go hopefully for my 1st fill on Feb 19th.

I am in Alabama too. Where is your doctor? I am going to St Vincent's East. I have to do the 6 months of Dr visits before I get to get banded, but I am very excited about it.

Dr. Dewitt is at Princeton Medical Center in Birmingham. I had to jump through all the hoops also but I am so glad I did. Almost there!

I'm trying to collect all of my information as well. I'm having trouble getting the letter from my doctor. He said he would write it, but it's been a month. I call the office at least once a week and it doesn't seem to be helping. They moved into a new office, but I think they are just using it as an excuse to get me off the phone. I thought that after a month I would have it. I get my psych eval later in two weeks. What do you all think I should do about my doctors letter?

liquid, I had to call my dr. everyday for 2 weeks and they finally called me this afternoon and said it was ready. I don't know if my bugging them helped, but i don't think it hurt either (I was nice about it).

I just got my referral today and I am scheduled for the informational seminar on Wed. I am just wondering how long did it take to get the psyhc eval, the nutritional consult and everything else before you submitted to the insurance I have tricare prime.

I had the Psych eval, Nutritionist, and EKG all ran on the same day. It took a couple of days for the psychologist to get her notes to Dr. Dewitts office but the EKG was faxed over that same day. They submitted everything the very next day.

I went to seminar today and got the what to do next packet. I have to take the computer test and schedule my psyhc eval. I have to make another appt. with my PMC to get some labs and a few letters stating I am drug and alcohol free and able to go through the surgery without complications.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
