Hi All!

I have my 2 week follow up appt. today and I am thinking of asking my Dr. for a fill. I have been reading 4 weeks is typical though. At how many weeks did you get your first fill?>

Hey Sista!

I got mine in early January - approximately 6 weeks after surgery. My doctor wouldn't do one any sooner because they feel you need to heal completely before giving you a fill. I have read that some doctors don't feel that way, but that was my experience.

I'm scheduled for another one tomorrow - right after the fill I felt some restriction for about a week, but nothing now and I'm overeating again...getting a little disheartened, but hopefully after tomorrow afternoon I'll be better able to control the head hunger and the stomach hunger.:tongue2:

My doctor is very strict and stingy with fills. But I understand his point, but of course I still stress my own feelings :tongue2:. I wasn't able to get my first fill until six weeks and than six weeks after that was my second fill. My third feel I have to wait eight weeks and that was with some serious negoting because he wanted me to wait three months for the third fill. My first fill was 3cc, second fill 1.5 cc (again i begged for that, he only wanted to give me 1cc). I've seen some docotors more liberal with fills, but docotor prefer to stretch it out for as long as he can.

Hey Ebony!!! Yeahhh my Dr said the same thing 6 weeks for proper healing. I told her I was able to have a whole can of Soup (didnt mention the pizza:redface:) an she said I should still try and restrict myself to 1/2 a cup per sitting  yeah right! I am going in March 18th for the fill now I am counting points again b/c I feel like nothing has changed I miss the swelling induced restriction  and I want that back. Hope your second goes well:thumbup: you are doing great!

Awe man  but I guess he is thinking better safe than sorry some of the overfill stories I seen on vblogs and read on here are not pretty :scared2:but I know that feeling of restriction is addictive I had about 10 wonderful days of it post op but I am trying to drink more Water we'll see!!!

Good morning Sistas!

My fill yesterday was interesting...the first fill I recieved, my surgeon did it. Yesterday, he had an intern (short white coat - my mom's telltale sign of an intern) and a resident plus himself do the appointment, and the resident did the fill.

They of course encouraged me to get my exercise in - and I had to bite my tongue, so to speak, because the nurse who checked me in and took my vitals started spouting the old wisdom about needing at least 20 min of aerobic exercise before fat burning starts. We know that's not entirely true - you can gain aerobic fitness and burn fat by upping the intensity level, not just from extending the time...

Anyway, he checked out my port location, then pressed down a bit with both hands, and before I knew it (almost before he could say "Here comes a little stick", he had found the port! Nice technique...I didn't feel much at all.

My doc did tell me I have a 10cc band, and the first fill they put in 1.5cc, and another 1.5 this time. I have 3 cc in a 10 cc band now. Drank some Water afterwards and really didn't feel a lot of restriction, but somewhere else on the site I've seen a message that said when you start burping, that's your first signal that you've got enough.

I'm on liquids for the next 24 hours, mushies for 24 hours after that, and then back to regular food. I had a Protein shake this morning and have eaten some canned fruit (yeah - not liquid, but so mushy it didn't bother me) and we'll see what the rest of the day brings. I'm hoping for relief from the unending hunger that has been with me for the past two weeks.

Also - I have updated my ticker - I gained two pounds!

I'm gonna work hard to get rid of that - my doc wants to see me in another month. My mini-goal is to lose at least 10 pounds (and preferably 20) before I see him again.

Have a great day, ladies!

That is good that the fill was painless I am still nervous I have until March though. I am still not hungry like that but I am craving more food and can eat more. You are right about the workouts I am getting back on track too! Please check in on that thread!!! The 2 pounds will urn of before you know it! Do you weigh in at home too?

Mornin LastOptionAtty,

I do weigh myself at home - the at-home scale is about 10 lbs different from the doc's scale, though! :hurray:

I tend to weigh myself every day - I probably shouldn't, but it's an old habit that's hard to break. I know when I eat something salty, I can gain 3 - 5 lbs overnight! :hurray:

I'm doing okay so far...this weekend was a little weird. I'm definately tighter in the morning than before - in fact, I pb'ed on a slice of fresh pear this morning. Guess I wasn't chewing well enough. I had some hot Cereal and that's staying down well, plus I had some cherry tomatoes and they are staying down as well.

I'm definately a 'grazer'...I could nibble all day every day, but I know that's not good for me. Especially when my food of choice would probably be potato chips! :hurray:

I'm hanging in there...I think this fill is definately helping. What I am experiencing is definately 'head hunger' - my stomach is not growling from hunger and I know I've had enough to eat...I just WANT more! :hurray:

Hi ladies!

My first fill was 6 weeks post -op and I could not weight (pun intended).

It's tough because you start getting hungry and begin to test ther waters trying new foods.

Good luck and hang in there

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
