I was really nervous before my surgery too -- actually, the earliest posts on my blog talk about that and about what the whole process was like (much easier than I'd expected). Feel free to take a look if you are interested.

When I was deciding whether to have the surgery, I made a list of pros & cons about it. I actually brought that list with me to the hospital so that I'd have it there to look at in case I started having doubts.

Honestly, getting banded is (so far!) the best decision I've made about my personal health, and it's finally made getting to my ideal weight a realistic goal. It's been just over 3 months and I'm down 25 lbs, and feel wonderful.

Good luck with your decision! Don't be scared!

Okay, so my surg. is thursday and i'm having some pre-surg jitters! It doesnt help that i check out of the hospital on friday the 13th!! If my surg. was that day, i'd have to reschedule!

Help! I'm getting so freaked out!

Mine is March Friday the 13th, I'm looking at it like this...hopefully some people will be too spooked to have their surgeries that day so I will get in first and not have to wait around all day.

I haven't got a surgery date yet. I won't get it until my visit on the 25th. I'm so excited. I hope it's not too long of a wait.

Hey everyone! I had my surg and everything of course went well. I got all freaked out over nothing! I was so drugged up all i remember was a mask and then waking up my hospital room with my husband.

I have like no pain, just a little sore around one of my cuts.

So all in all it went really well!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
