Frankly it took me until my 4th fill (5.5 ccs total in a 14 cc band) to begin to feel any restriction. Hang in there.

That is a long time to go without having a fill. Why was there a delay with getting your first fill?

With each fill I received at the doctor's office, I would have restriction for a couple of weeks and then nothing. My last fill was on January 28, so I am hoping my restriction will last longer than two weeks.

Good luck!

I've experienced almost the same two-week pattern, TQuad, although I wouldn't say I had no restriction after two weeks, but it seemed to diminish greatly over night. I was convinced I had a leak, but my doctor assured me that I didn't. I've been holding my breath since my last fill 2 1/2 weeks ago, and so far - KNOCK ON WOOD - I still have great restriction. That's not to say that it's as good as the first week following the fill, but that had to be partially due to swelling. I'm feeling great, staying satisfied for four hours+ between meals, and keeping my meals at 1/2 cup. I'm praying this lasts!

Yep Kiz, I hear you. I am coming up on two weeks this Wed and I am hoping the restriction stays with me and I do not lose any more of my fill.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
