I have a bad habit of snacking at night. I've done it for years, and although I'm working on it, it's going to take a while to break that habit. Last week I had my third fill. I've definitely felt a difference with this one. I eat less and stay full for a lot longer.

Last night I wanted to munch so badly, so I decided to at least make it a healthy snack. I grabbed a 1-ounce cheddar cheese stick and started nibbling. About half-way through, I got a definite signal from my band that I should stop. But my brain kept saying: "it's only a little cheese stick, don't waste it, it's low calorie, just finish it."

Bad Brain. Big Mistake. I don't know if I swallowed too big a bite or simply ate too much, but suddenly I was in pain. I didn't PB, but I slimed a bit. I managed to chew on a couple of papaya enzyme tablets and in a few minutes, everything relaxed and just as suddenly, I felt fine again.

I think that episode may have cured my late-night snacking for at least a day or two. Just a word of caution to everyone else. Listen. To. Your. Band!

It is hard to break those habits. I completely understand where you are coming from. I did that with a small hand full of almonds. I was popping them into my mouth like I was not banded. I had done that with maybe 4 of them when I noticed that they weren't going down. I had a piece in my mouth and for whatever stupid reason, swallowed. Thankfully I didn't PB or slime, but I felt awful for a while. I just walked around lifting my arms above my head. I looked and felt like a complete idiot. You do have to learn to listen to your band. It will tell you *enough* if you learn to listen.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
