Yep, I'd say your time to be self-focused has passed and now you have time and mental energy to offer something to others. Find a cause you believe in and volunteer. Get a hobby. Mentor others going through the surgery.

And if you are mourning food still to to the point that you think being thin isn't worth it, you probably need to see a counselor who can help you define why you miss your drug of choice enough to get down about it.

IMB315...I'm curious what amount of weight loss you accomplished and are you at goal and have kept it off for any period of time..???? I would love to be in your position, but I think I understand what you mean.... I can relate a bit with the difference between now and the time right after my surgery... It's very different... All the hubbub is over...all the wondering and hoping... and now there is the every day to day workings of losing the weight one pound at a time.. One can feel a little let down I think.... I'm guessing that a lot of the previous responses were right.... you need to find something else to spend your time on.. I'm hoping that for me that will be doing so many of the things I could never do at 350+ pounds.... I'm not there yet, but I'm headed that way and I think about it... Just today I looked at a bike seat to replace the skinny little thing that is on the bike my husband bought me a couple years ago.. I need a little better "understanding" to ride my bike yet, but I'm looking forward to spring so I can try it out..... Think about those kinds of things............ and try on lots of skinny clothes.... I'm looking forward to that, too.... Congratulations on getting skinny.... It's a dream that the rest of us are patiently (or rather unpatiently) waiting for... You'll find something that is right for you... Best of luck.... Julie

With out sounding rude.... Get a life.

Now is the time to go and do all the things that you dreamed of doing before you were banded, your fat days. im sure doing all those things, and belive me there should be a good size list, that should keep you busy for a few months. then after that, you can re-group and look for something else to occupy your time. I dont know start a support group, hold coffee mornings, walking groups and exercise groups, a recipe swap meet, where you bring along a plate of your fav band freindly foods, then swap with others. The list of things to do is endless. Have an affair. sponsor a child in a third world country. Go back to university and get a degree. take up belly dancing, or pole dancing, write a book. get a tatoo. get your belly button pierced. take up hip hop dance classes.

I really hope you find something in your life, that gives you happiness and satisfaction. good luck.

Congratulations on your weight loss. Before I had lap band surgery, I was quite terrified that like you, I'd become bored once I lost the weight. I think a lot of food addicts wonder, "If I can't eat- what will I do with myself?"

I have it all planned out now. I am taking up sports and out-door activities. I have a high-energy little miniature pincher, basenji mix (dog) who is more than willing to jog with me every day. My whole family loves camping, hiking, and boating.

What do you enjoy? Maybe now is a good time to start investing in some life-enhancing activities. Are you an outdoors person like me? Are you artistic? What about volunteer work? You can’t go wrong with volunteer work.

I think for a lot of people, reality really doesn’t match up to the ‘skinny’ future they foresee for themselves and it can be somewhat of a downer. But look on the bright side - you've achieved an amazing goal. Take advantage of this new you and get out there and change the world!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
