My confusion

Recommended Posts

Ok MOST of the time I can eat with no problem... In fact I can eat most anything and lots of it... When I stepped on the scale this morning I have gained 6lbs. I have a fill scheduled on Saturday. Now the confusion. I get stuck a lot am I doing something wrong?

I know I haven't been eating right but when I eat the right foods I get stuck.. Now am I in need of a fill or what? Please advise!!!!!:)

Getting stuck is not a sign of proper restriction it is a sign that you are not eating properly or eating something that disagrees with you. I was able to get stuck on some things before I ever had a fill.

Signs of needing a fill are eating too much, not staying satisfied between meals and weight gain...sounds to me like you need a fill.

You said you can eat okay most of the time, and eat a lot of food with no problem. Then you said you when you eat the "right foods", you get stuck and you also said you get stuck "a lot".

By "right foods", do you mean non-slider foods? If you're eating a lot of slider foods, you're going to be able to eat a lot and you're going to get hungry quickly, because you're by-passing your band. When you eat the "right foods" are you chewing your food well, taking small bites, and not rushing through your meal? I think it's easy to go back to bad habits, when the band isn't at the proper restriction.

You're going to have to figure out if you're "cheating" your band by the foods you're choosing, or if you need an adjustment. It's kind of hard sometimes to think these things through, but I hope by re-reading your post, you're able to answer your questions. Good luck..I know it's tough. At times, I've had some of the same issues.

I had beef last night and got stuck yet I had beef on Sunday no problems. My problem was too big bite. I tried again after being stuck and chewed better and then had no problem.

You probably don't want to know this but it sounds like you need little unfill instead of a fill. You may be too tight. If you are eating the "right foods" and they are getting stuck when you are chewing correctly and eating slowly then you are too tight. You are probably eating alot because you are eating slider foods. If this is the case and you get a fill, it will only get worse.

Try eating some right food tonight...chicken, turkey, fish, ground beef, whatever. Consciously eat slowly, take small bites and chew well. If it gets stuck, then you are too tight. Go to the appointment Saturday, tell them what has been happening and get a little taken out. It will do wonders for you and you will feel better and get back on track. In a couple of weeks if you need it, then go get another fill.

:scared:I know it's difficult to stick to the right foods(fruits, vegetables, fish and excteras)but remember how exspensive this surgery was and why you had it done to improve your health. Get out and exercise when you feel like you want to eat.

Keep busy and distracted. It really does help.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
