Recommended Posts

tomorrow at 2pm I see the nurse practitioner and then at 3pm i see the dietition. I am excited becuse its a beginning to a new chapter in my life.. but scared of what they are going to tell me all at the same time.. Im not afraid of the dietary changes or exercise but of possibly not getting the surgery due to fatty liver or something like that cause it would just be my luck. so that is what I am working on and nervous about.. the good thing is that I am having a friend, that has had bariatric surgery done 5 years ago, go with me for support and to remember things that i might forget.

Hi,

x2 on the nervous, my surgical consult is today. I did the dietician and all that a bit ago, nothing to worry about, worse case scenario I bet you leave with some good advice, a pre-surgery weight loss goal and some new pills.< /p>

Let us know how it goes and good luck

Well I met with the dietitian and nurse pratitioner yesterday. I started my diet today.. its going well so far. I have to have some tests done to see if I can have the lap band since i have bad heat burn. I have a hpilori test done in the office, have to have a lung test to check my asthma, and two tests on my asophagas.. Upper gi and something else that includes x-rays and barrium... ewwww. anyways Im hoping everything works out cause i really dont want to have to have a bypass.. id prefer the band.. but if it comes down to it ill do it cause i have to do something about my weight.. Ive been over weight for almost 20 years.. its time for a life change! I think Im if i get my house hold chores done by 3pm today i will go for a 20-30 minute walk and see how i feel. if not then Ill just walk around the block a few times. so my x-ray appointment has been scheduled for Feb 6th. the only other thing I have to do is the psych eval and ill get my appointment date for that with in the next week. I only have to lose 18 lbs to have the surgery.. but im shooting for a bit higher. like 30 at least.

:smile:Erikka,

I sure feel bad now that I just posted a thread ranting and raving about all the things that have gone wrong with my process. You are so upbeat and ready to go. I started the process with my primary Dr. in April of 2008 and then just went for my meetings at the Illinois Bariatric Center in January of this year. I wonder if we will be going in around the same time??? I do not have a surgery date yet, do you? I have to wait on the results from the cardiac thing, and the shrink. (check my thread)

Again, sorry about being down when you are so up! Good for you. and thanks, because you brought me back up:thumbup:

Wow thats cool three people with the same name... anyways I have insurance that will cover most of it, however i do have co-pays for all medications and $50 bucks a day for the first three days of hospital care, after that its free(hopefully I dont have to stay in the hospital very long!!

Good luck you you both on the pre-surgery process (tests and dr visits).

Sincerely,

Erikka

Good morning Erica! So at your seminar, what do they discuss? Is it hyped enough to convince any die hard person? I really need a hyped seminar to convince hubbie. . I'll know for sure if I get the surgery after tonight? ????:tongue2:

Good Morning!! The seminar was ok. I have been doing a lot of research on the lapband for the past couple of years, so there wasn't much new information that was given besides this particular doctor's statistics. It was very informative though (surgeon was monotone:bored:). He compared the different types of WLS to each other and answered many questions and concerns of everyone that attended. The bariatric coordanitor was also there to answer questions about insurance, self-pay, etc. I was already convinced, but if I wasn't, I don't know about the hype part conviencing me, but the comparative information certainly did!!! Hope this helps and good luck tonight!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
