Last hurrah or start early?

My surgery is Feb 4th and I'm finding myself trying to eat all the foods I know I soon won't be able to have. Captain Crunch, nachos, steak, Bagels, salads... Are you doing this too or are you getting a jump on the weight loss before surgery?

I am scheduled for 2-09-09. How are you still eating delicious yummies like Captain Crunch?I just made my daughter her lunch for school and had to resist the PB and J as I put it in the bag... I started the pre-op diet yesterday. Anyhow, I am just down the road from you in Sarasota!

Think how great you will feel about yourself if you go into your surgery not having stuffed your face for weeks. By all means, say some goodbyes, but dont overdo it. Think how disgusted with yourself you'll feel if you've overeaten, heck pigged out, and gained weight.

Youve made the decision to change your life. Dont put it off.

Hi, I am having trouble staying on the 10 day liquid pre-diet. Also, I'm almost sad to not eat candy out of the work candy dish - but I'm not eating it. I didn't realize how much that meant to me, which I find pretty weird. Unfortunately, although I'm not eating anything really bad, every day I eat something and I'm supposed to be on liquids - cottage cheese or a piece of low fat cheese. I have lost since Friday, but I just want to make sure I can do liquid before being banded on Feb 2, so the post op liquid 10 days will not be so hard. So yeah, I definately know what you mean!!!

The post op liquid phase is NOTHING like the pre op one, dont worry. Its much much easier for many people. Its liquid, yes, but its not so strict - I mean a liquid is anytihng that goes up a straw. So you dont blend Mars Bars, lol, but you can have proper Soup, things like meat, veges and lentils, blended up and that is much more satisfying than what you have to do pre op.

I had every intention of starting early, but I did kind of a fairwell to foods. I gained weight instead of lost. It would have been much healthier for me to have started my work prior to surgery and my liver would have been smaller. I was lucky that they didn't stop my surgery because it was so fatty, that has happened to some!

i feel the EXACT way. my sx is 2/16 and i will start the diet 2/1.very restricted liquid. i keep telling myself "there is absolutely no reason why you can't start today" but i am holding on to my foods. eating way too much. i feel fatter and more out of control than ever. i realize i really love food. i love to cook and plan and eat. but it really is killing me. surgery cannot come soon enough

My surgery is 2/2 and I had to start my pre-op diet on 1/19. It has been hard, but now that I'm only a few days away I feel it has been worth it. It will be that much easier for me to handle the post op restrictions. The week before my pre-op diet began I certainly ate sushi, a burger, a nice steak, all knowing it would be a while before I could have those things again (if ever at all)... but I am down 13 lbs and I feel pretty great!

I guess I should have explained that my surgeon does not require me to follow a pre-op diet for weeks or even 1 week. I went for my pre-op appt today and I will need to need do Clear Liquids only one day before the surgery. I am glad to know that I'm not alone though!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
