"Adverse events that were considered to be non-serious, and which occurred in less than 1% of the patients, included: esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus), gastritis (inflammation of the stomach tissue lining), "

Hi guys! I am back from my doctor's appointment!

Less than 1% get a number of these types of things (as I just read on ObesityHelp.com) But I am devastated.

I posted a lot about horrible stomach pain and today I did a colonoscopy and endoscopy and my stomach is severely irritated and I am heartbroken.

Does anyone know much about Gastritis? Is it a type of rejection of the band? I am sitting here like a little kid crying...I love my Lap Band and I don't want it out, and I also don't want to be in pain. I want everything to be OK (like we all do in life, of course ). I just want to get on with my Lap Band life but this has completely stalled it.

Anyway, enough of my pity party for myself. Anyone know what I do next? I am waiting for biopsy results for Prevacid, but I am scared of why this happened and if they will take my band? I have lost too much weight to have other surgeries, and I love the LapBand !

Well, you are already seeing a doctor for it and have been diagnosed. It sounds like they are going to start treating you. I don't think it is a rejection of the band, but more likely something to do with stomach acid if they are going to give you prevacid. I know we get flustered when we sit in front of our doctors, but write these questions down so you can ask him/her when you return. They are the people that really know the answers to our questions. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I don't have the band. But I remember when I was about 16, I woke up one night with severe pain in my stomach. I swore it felt like something ruptured and I was being stabbed. I convinced my parents to take me to the hospital. So I sat in the ER for hours until they finally examined me, and said that I had gatritis. They gave me Mylanta and sent me home. I felt so silly for going to the ER for gas!

So, Barbara...does gas cause gastritis? Is that why you had it? Extreme gas.

I have had gastritis due to stomach acid production. I have a very sensitive stomach, and it is easily inflamed if I get too tight. I take Prilosec on occasion and it has kept the gastritis at bay, so sometimes a PPI will do the trick quite nicely.

My husband has gastritus (not banded). The causes of his gastritus are the foods he eats & stress. He shouldn't have spicy foods, alcohol or stress or his stomach hurts and he gets an ulcer that acts up and bleeds a little. He is on Acephex and it helps a lot. He only takes it when his stomach is bothering him and then it heals up and he doesn't need medicine anymore. Maybe its something your eating. Do you eat spicy foods???

It's really odd that you started this thread, because I have been suffering with the same thing as you have described. I have only been on solids for about 4 days now, but my stomach has been burning like a bonfire day and night. I'm pretty sure it is the over production of acid. My mom has had the same thing and she has been on Prevacid for several months now. I hope to go to the doctor this week.

Good luck to you and I hope you get good news from your biopsy!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
