Red Rash all over belly area and spreading

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Jan 16th and ever since then I have a red rash all over my belly. It is getting worse and looks like measles but I know it's not. It itches really bad and I think it is from something they used on me during surgery. Have any of you had this happen. I have my first post op appt. the first Monday of Feb.

Oh yes, I have showered MANY times since my surgery. I was banded last Friday and stayed the night (sleep apnea) got released and went home and showered. This stuff is spreading. I do think it is something they used thou.

It sounds to me like you are allergic to something. Take Benadryl or call your doctor and see what he wants you to do.

The same exact thing happend to me. It hurt really bad and it was very itchy I took Benedryl for three days only because it put me to sleep and I didn't have to deal with the pain or itchy. I went to the Emergency Room and they gave me some cream that didn't really help either. Turns out there is something in the prep they use called Chlorhexidine that I am allergic to and now have to list it as an allergy. I work in a hospital with the stuff all the time and have to be very careful. I think you should call your Doctor and see what he thinks about it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
