How often are you allowed to have a fill?

Recommended Posts

I'm just curious, the nurse told me we have to wait 3 weeks but the doctor told me to come back in 2 if I still don't have any restriction. (I just had my 2nd fill 1/21 - I now have a total of 6cc's). He told me to wait until the 29th to see how I feel.

I was able to go back twice at two-week intervals. The second time was under fluro to check to see if I really needed a fill, and I did. The barium went through my band in a swoosh.

I just had my 5th fill last week that brought me up to 8.5cc.

My doctor required the first three to be 4 weeks apart. After that, I can schedule one anytime I need to. They still reserve the right to say that I don't need one. I actually heard them tell a lady that she didn't need one because her weight loss was pretty steady. The fills are always done under fluro in my doctor's office.

Pretty much as often as I want, though he recommends two weeks between. But if really struggling he is willing to do them at weekly intervals.

Well, I see my doctor every 4-weeks and can have a fill if I need it during that 4-week visit. However, she did state once, if I needed a fill before the next visit that she would give me one. I have never taken her up on that offer yet.

I've been going about ever 2-3 weeks. During Christmas I went once in a month, and it killed me. They had to take some out before, then by the time I went back in Jan. I needed a fill and only lost 3lbs. They put back what thy had taken out, and I still feel like I need a fill and I'm really nervous to go on Monday because I have felt like I didn't lose ANYTHING :scared2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
