Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Mentor/Support Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am three years banded and no where near my goal. I needed to lose about 100 pounds when I was pounded. I slowly lost 50 and recently gained 15. I attribute my slow weight loss to hypothyroidism, menopause, lack of exercise, unhealthy choices and emotional eatting issues that I have not overcome. This past fall, I decided to join Nutrisystem, thinking it would give me a push. Somehow the opposite happened and I gained weight. So, I am trying to get back on track. I've set up an appointment to be evaluated by my surgeon just to make sure that everything is ok. I am frankly a little embarassed to see him since I am not an overwhelming success. I joined a gym and have been going to waer aerobics 2-3 times a week. Now I am refreshing my memory about what we are supposed to eat. I would love a mentor to advise and support me. I really want this year to be the year I lose the weight!

Hi,

OK, I'm a man. I was born that way. But I still think I may be able to help you in some way.

Check out my website/blog/images in my signature and if you feel I can be of use to you then email me.

For a start, I don't buy diet foods or special diets. I just eat less than I used to. A lot less. Call it Portion Control. I needed to lose a lot of weight to regain my identity, confidence and self worth. I was in a dreadful state. Now, after the band and work from me, I'm fine, a different person and I know you can be too.

So, I'm here if you want to talk. Go on, write the email.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
