3 week post op food (what do you eat and how much?)

Recommended Posts

The Wendy's chili is probably ok if you are sure to chew it very well. Your breakfast sounds like too much to eat at one time, to me. Maybe 2 eggs OR oatmeal, but not both for one meal. Your best guide is your physician's and/or nutritionist's instructions.

The thing is I could eat more but I don't. I want to feel satisfied tho and the two eggs and oatmeal was just enough for me. I need a fill I know I do

And that's the hardest thing - Unfortunately, for most of us, "satisfied" is a head thing more than a physical thing. I ran into that very early after moving to soft foods. I ate the recommended amounts for my meals in the recommended time frame (about 20 minutes) and my brain said MORE!! But when I checked my hunger level, I realized that I was no longer physically hungry. So I had to overrule my brain and say "No, I have had all I need." It is not easy, especially when you are a volume eater, as I was, but it does get easier.

Yeah its very tough that is why I want my fill sooner. I don't think ill need much but I hope it helps. I want to be able to take a few bites and be like damn I'm full NO MORE for me lol

Btw I bought two nice little grills when I was not eating and couldn't sleep and saw an infomercial at 4am... Its called the xpress101 I think... I cooked talapia in it yesterday and it was PERFECT! Ill prob be using it a lot with my fish and veggies

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
