Question for BCBS of IL banders

Recommended Posts

It was around 1 week. Good Luck:thumbup:

Thank you for the responses. I have a PPO. Do you have a PPO or HMO? Did you have to do 6 or 7 visits with your PCP? I appreciate all the help. I am just wanting to prepare for time off and things for surgery.

I have the BCBS of IL PPO and it took me about a week to get my approval. They accepted 6 consecutive visits with my PCP that had been done within the previous 24 months. I made sure that the paperwork from the doctor specified my weight/bmi and that we discussed my weight/exercise routine at each of those visits. I hope this helps! Good luck!

I dont mean to ask so many questions, but I have been told that most often your first visit with your PCP is day 0 and then you have 6 consecutive visits after that. My first visit was Oct 13th. Would I still have 6 after that?

I didnt know how to guestimate time at the end of March or the end of April. My boss is wanting to know when to start seeking a temp for me.

Thank you all so much

I had 6 signed weight loss visit forms turned in for my visits. I only had 6 visits, BUT nothing in my paperwork actually specifically asked about whether I had been 7 times. My paperwork just showed 6 dates in 6 months. I have heard of others requiring that it be exactly 1 month between each visit, but it wasn't required for my paperwork. Or maybe it was just left up in the air for them to figure out whether I had been for six months? It wasn't lied about, but I guess it could have been left up to interpretation.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
