I had the lap band done on12-15-08. No fills yet. I did not have it done for weight lose as I had the RNY in 04. I have suffered severe dumping for 4 years. I went from 228 lbs to 96 lbs. I have been on sandostatin injections 3 times a day to help but it does not take it away. In addition to dumping I had 2 bowel obstuctions in 05. The dumping occurs regardless of what I eat and with it my blood sugars drop into the 20-30's. Because all this is a life threatening condition my surgeon recommended a lap band to try to slow the emptying of my pouch. Since I had it I have had food stick every time I take a bite. Washing it down with Water did not work. It actually gurgled back up and out. I had my esophigus dilated 3 days ago with no relief. Can anyone tell me how long this will go on. I have already lost 5 more lbs. I know to chew chew chew. I know what foods to eat. I can not take much more of this. I DO NOT want to have a complete revision. I had all my hopes pinned on this but I am very discouraged right now. Answers please??

Wow i am sorry you have gone through so much .

What are you eating ? maybe some foods you think are ok are causing the issue ?

After you got stuck did you go on liquids to allow the swelling to go down ?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
