Port moved? 4th fill - 1st time with pain

Recommended Posts

I was filled on Wed., which was my 4th fill. The doctor had a bit of trouble finding the port, and had to "dig around" in there. It hurt then, and it hurts now. I have a quarter-sized bullseye/bruise in the middle of my abdomen. Has anyone else had their port move up after time (been 6 months for me) and the dr. had to search for it? It used to be right above my incision scar, and now he "hit me" about an inch above that. I know he stitched it into place at the time of surgery.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I had the same problem today at my second fill. The first time was pain free, but today it hurt like heck and he had to dig around forever! I started panicking that my port had flipped. It doesn't hurt now that it is over, thankfully!

It is not unusual for your port to move,as you lose weight your body changes and moves things around. My port is maybe two inches higher now than it was at the start. If you look there is plenty of topics that refer to the port moving.

I have had the same thing happen. The doctor found it ok, because he feels around first, but he even commented on it had shifted some because of some weight loss. I have noticed though that since that fill, I have a pulling sensation sometimes at the port site. Like it is still drifting a little and pulling on scar tissue. Especially when my arms are above my head doing something. Anyone else have this?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
