:Bunny Please im looking for some more of your assistance. Is it normal to still feel uncomfortable 4 days post op?? I've read such a wide range I don't really know if i am progressing in the right way. My doctor had me on clear fluids for 3 days post op and today i was able to switch to thicker liquids. Anyway the eatting part or lack of is not too bad. But how do you know when your hungry or when you're full. Should this even be a concern when im on liquids? or should i just be continually filling up? The other thing is my back, sides, ribs, and chest have pressure. not really pain. and when i stand up from a sitting position im so stiff.

ok, so how im doing?

all of your help has made this journey so much smoother. I appreciate your input.

Thanks again.

Sounds like you are totally normal to me in your healing :P the pressure is most likely from the gas and the bloatedness and swelling from surgery , it gets better each day, try some liquid tylenol..Walking also helps to rid the gas, walk walk walk whenever possible , heating pad also works well for discomfort

Dont worry yourself about being full on liquids, the main thing is to get in your liquids so you do not get dehydrated. Hang in there it does get better

Good Luck and Congratulations on your new band!

You feel the exact way that I did. I was banded on July 15th and I had a lot of discomfort in my shoulders and back. This is all gas! I was a little concerned with it as well but don't worry about it because it will pass. It lasted almost 2 weeks for me.

My Doctor wanted me to consume approximately 12 measuring cups full of liquids a day, to prevent dehydration. Gatorade is excellent to help put electrolights back into your body. It helped me a lot.

I was pretty much back to my normal self after 7 days-hang in there!

oh yeah, sore four days out? Of course you will be sore!

I just had unrelated girl surgery, and stiff and sore my four days out.

You are the only one who knows when you are full or not. And yes, you can get full in this period of time. But really, your most important concern right now is to get better and not to worry about weight loos.

Good luck and Welcome to the Banded Gentry!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
