Hi all. I am new here. It has been fairly recently that I decided to take some action and stop wasting time by being wishy washy about wls. All that time all I did was get bigger and bigger and my weight, which has always been an issue in my life, has gotten to the point where it affects everything in my life. I am now in so much pain in my knees and legs, I feel tired and unable to do so many things, and I feel like I can't be the best mom I can be to my 5 year old. I want to live my life to the fullest. So I FINALLY called the bariatric dept of the medical center near me, filled out the questionnaire they sent me, went to a seminar, and met with the nutritionist. She gave me a food journal to keep for a week now and then another week before I meet with her in 6 weeks. In that time I have to make an appt for a psych eval and work on some nutrition goals. I'll probably be asking lots of questions and blabbing a lot more, but I just wanted to say hi. BTW, is there anyone else in the western Mass area here who has some input on Dr. Romanelli from Baystate Medical Center or the doc at Mercy medical center? (can't remember his name right now)

Welcome to LapBandTalk!

I'm from CA so I can't answer your questions about the program in MASS but we do have a section for MA here and also a subforum called "Doctors & Hospitals" Those are good places to go in order to check out a program.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
