Types of bands

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what they know about the different types of bands and how they differ?

Does anyone know if one works better than another and why?

Maybe there is a place where I could have looked this up, but I missed it?

Try www.Inamed.com for the Inamed bands. They are the only FDA approved bands. If you are having surgery in the US, this is the band you WILL get. There are several sizes. You doc picks which one is best for you based on your anatomy once inside. I'm not sure about the other bands...the French Midband, and the Swedish Band...??? Just when I think I know all about the different bands, time goes by and I forget, then I can't find the links to the info. You can do a search on the Midband and Swedish band or any combination. Someone who knows better may post some info. Or some links? Anyhow, will your surgery be in the US?

Types of bands? help

I have read post after post and I do not know what the answer is. How many different kinds of bands are there? What sizes? Is there a difference in a VG band and a regular band? What does VG stand for?

I am scheduled for surgery on April 17th. I am so excited about that, but I need to know what to ask on my appointment before surgery on April 10th. My surgery is being done in Birmingham, AL Dr. Schmitt. Some people say that Dr's use a certain band on if you weigh over 270 or something. This is the only thing that I can't understand. Please help me, or give me a link where it explaines it. I am scared that I will get a bigger band and still be able to eat. I am paying for this on my own (15,000) I am so scared that it will erode and I will have to pay more to get it out and then I will still be fat and will have wasted 25,000. I am sure that there are alot that feel the same way.

Anyway, Please help me understand all my questiones above!!!

There's a thread with a lot of technical info:

You get restriction with either size... it just takes longer with a bigger band, so you have to be more patient. If you're worried about it, though, talk to your doctor & ask what size you'll be getting!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
